The First Indian Sailing Around the World Expedition in Yacht Trishna
by Brig TPS Chowdhury, AVSM
Maj Gen Mohan Singh has to his credit two very great achievements:
1. The Demolition of the Dehra Nanak Bridge near Gurdaspur during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. This engineering feat changed the very course of the war and led to our resounding victory in that theatre.
2. He was the FIRST INDIAN ever in the history of the subcontinent to lead a Sailing Expedition from Chennai to Port Blair in 1970 to sail across the Bay of Bengal in a small sailing boat which is basically meant for coastal sailing. Take a look at the Power Point Presentations on these two very greats feats by clicking on the numbers above.
