HIGH ACHIEVERS IN SERVICE
Captain Joyanta Sengupta
battle casualty in the Indo-Pak conflict 1965.
- Jojo is undoubtedly, by unanimous vote, the NUMBER 1 highest achiever in our course. He most unfortunately, lost both his eyes in war and was boarded out on medical grounds else he would have risen to be a COAS. His professional standing was that good.
- He had the distinction of being appointed the Academy Cadet Captain of our course at NDA. He has always excelled and stood first.
- After leaving the service, his wife Rita, an accomplished lady in her own rights, has been his source of strength.
- Maj Gen Raj Mehta has written a superb tribute to this outstanding officer: βJoJo was a Braveheart, who, though small in size, had sky-high standards of bravery in adversity and in conduct becoming an officer and a gentleman of impeccable class of the rarest kind.β
